today as oakland is trying to figure out about those cracked bolts in the new bridge in what they should do about it. will tran has been following this life or is this morning at the mall at metropolitan station this morning in oakland. >> the fact that they're using the word in jeopardy, that should tell you everything you need to know. when they found out about this a couple of months ago they said it was not a problem and it should still open and time for labor day weekend. that is now up in the air, we will find out into a half hours from now whether or not it is ago, labor day weekend. they recently found out as early as 2008 that the company and charged with making the boats did not passed instruction. they were started to become brittle,

bay bridge. the westbound ride looks good on all the approaches, not just the nimitz freeway approach this morning. the commute on '92, the san mateo bridge it still has good drive times, 12 minutes from hayward to foster city. the golden gate bridge ride looks good as well with an easy trip was to and from marin county. we pointed out the slow spots for you, drive time 21 minutes for the east shore freeway. traffic going in and out of walnut creek on 680 southbound. the 580 westbound ride was good from livermore out to castro valley. south bay freeways thinking of some slowing from 1 01 northbound and 485 through the west valley. there are no incidents reported on south bay freeways slowing the ride. here we are sorry to pick up some slowing for the 37 interchange and for two days in a row we're seeing a little slowing just north at 37. drive times are still under 35 minutes from the

bottom to the golden gate bridge. transit is enjoying a good ride today, problems free for a cow train a strain and the muni metro. the stockton alice interest to the bart station has been closed for a little while as they continue to build a subway to know where in downtown san francisco. >> a bay area baseball coach accused of molesting at least two children pleaded not guilty to all charges against him yesterday. joel kaufmann pleaded not guilty to four felony counts which included performing lewd acts on a child under 14 years old. this is video of him after he posted bail in march. kaufman was coached baseball at several schools, including bishop of doubt high school in oakland and palo alto high school. police say you turn himself into of 30's back in march after learning that the district attorney's office filed charges against him.

kaufman was released the same day after posting bail. san declares there is asking for the public's help in identifying two robbery suspects. this is surveillance pictures of one of the suspects to attempted to rob a victim in front of a 711 on north white roa and on inc. san jose. police say the man wearing a hooded sweatshirt approach of victim and his car, pointed a handgun and demanded money. the suspect is described as a hispanic male, approximately 30 years old, 582 5/582 6 ft. tall, weighing 200 lbs.. he was seen with another man inside the seven eleven store.

>> 7:29 a.m. and a live look at the san mateo bridge. >> it is a great start for most of us along the coastline and definitely a lot of beat north bay. we're also waking up to some forties. looks like sunny but mild conditions into the afternoon. we will continue the cold down, and tomorrow's expected to be the coldest day of the week. a look at satellite and radar, cloud cover is creeping up the coastline and pushing its way inland. we of limited visibility in the north bay. dry weather remains around the bay area. i'll walk you through the full details of your extended forecast in my next report.

>> we will start with the bridge jack, the ride to the bay bridge, westbound traffic looks good. we do not have much in the way of a back up, 16 minute commute time from the macarthur maze. the san mateo bridge, highway 92 looks pretty good here as well. some of the 13 minute commute times over to foster city. the golden gate bridge ride has been problem free from marin county all morning long. >> following a developing story i've opened this morning were hopefully today will find out more about those problems they were having with the span of the bay bridge. the bad old snap when they tried to install them. will the bridge opened and time as they have been promising? will tran is standing in front of the offices in oakland with what we may learn today. >> we will ask them to hours from now, yes or no on this because they just use the words in jeopardy. we will

try to nail them down and ask will it open in time for labor day? it does not, it will push back the entire project and add more money to this. they are repaid $6.3 million and part of that money and included the bad bolts. now, they will have to do that all over again that will take time and money. the recently found out when they were installing 96 of the bolts that they have about 300 altogether and this is the first phase. when they install them, they realize there were cracks in this and that is when they started looking through out the whole process. they found out as early as 2008 that caltrans knew about the problem. the test that the company in ohio was using, they found of the boats were not up to standards. for what ever reason, people are furious and confused, when they found out and 2008 they

marathon attack was living on taxpayer funded state welfare benefits. state of fizzles confirmed last night that tamerlan tsarnaev will the older brother was killed in a gunbattle with police last friday night was receiving benefits along with his wife and their three year-old daughter. the state's executive office of health and human services said those benefits ended in 2012 when the couple stop meeting income eligibility limits. the news raises questions over whether he financed his radicalization on taxpayer money. the health and human services declined to specify what kinds of benefits and the amount of benefits the family received. >> we are following news out of san francisco this morning where barry bonds commemorative plaque has gone missing. jackie sissel is live at at&t park. >> it is a real whodunit out here. i am outside of at&t park where dozens of barry

oakland, we were hoping to find out the problems with a cracked bolts on the bay bridge can be fixed in time for the labor day opening. the cracks were discovered and officials found out there were lots of miss steps along the way. >> to fix the problem, they have to know exactly how it started. at this point, it is all speculation. and so they can nail down this is exactly what happened, they can go from there. they're saying the opening of the bay bridge is a tie for the labor day weekend initially they came out and said yes they can fix is in three minutes into it they said it is even deeper than they thought. here is the video of the bay bridge bolts. in the process of installing them, they found out there were cracks. they're speculating it could be as simple as a galvanizing process. i

tough spot. they have hard times and in a bad economy. they have a shrinking amount of money. the health and retirement and all that for firefighters is costing them a ton. they say there's nothing they can do. could the firefighters take a hit and make it work? >> our personnel has already, last summer, actually before that made concessions they took salary cuts. there are some parts of our organization that increase the contributions to the pensions. our firefighters already pay their full contribution and supplement the district as far as paying for their pensions. they have made contributions already. we have cut operating costs. we are basically in a challenging economy as far as property taxes. contra costa has not recovered like some areas in the bay area. we do not have a diverse
